During Black History Month, we celebrate the many achievements and contributions of Black Canadians and their communities who throughout history have done so much to make Canada a culturally diverse, compassionate, and prosperous country.

The Rainy River District School Board invites students in Grades 6-12 from across the district to be Mental Health Champions within their school. We are looking for students who are passionate about mental health and well-being and are willing to take on a leadership role to promote mental health initiatives and a positive school climate. If this sounds like your child/youth, have them let their Principal know that they are interested!

Students in Grades 5-12 will be participating in interactive presentations this month from The Period Purse, a not-for-profit Canadian organization. Their mission is to create menstrual equity by ensuring sustainable access to period products for all. They also aim to end the stigma associated with periods through education and advocacy.

In the Winter 2023 edition of the Parent Involvement Committee newsletter, learn about how to get involved in your school community and the importance of regular school attendance. Also, find information about anxiety in students, as well as some games and activities to help young learners develop skills for reading and spelling success.
